You can create your own portal activities. For example, if you have an inventory control system accessed through the portal and only certain users are allowed to edit it, you can create an Edit Inventories activity. Then you can create inventory-control portlets that ensure a user has the correct activity right prior to being allowed access to the portlet.
To create a custom portal activity:
In the Name box, type the name of your activity. Because this name displays in the Activity Manager, make sure that it makes clear to other administrators what this activity allows users to do.
In the Description box, type a description for this activity. This also displays in the Activity Manager.
In the Unique Resource Identifier (URI) box, type any combination of characters, but the URI must be unique. The URI is the only means the portal has to identify this activity and send it to other resources.
To assign this activity right to a group:
Under Groups with
Rights, click Add
Group.
In the Select Groups dialog box, navigate to the group to whom you want to grant the activity right and click OK.
