Search Service Status

The Search Service Status page displays current information about your Search Service. The portal establishes a connection to the Query Server and Index Server (generally the same service) and retrieves status information.

The following information is displayed under Cluster Contact Node:

Information

Description

Host Name

Displays the name of the computer that hosts the Search Service.

Port Number

Displays the port number used by the Search Service.

Uptime

Displays how long the Search Service has been continuously running.

Index Directory

Displays the directory in which your Search Service index files are stored.

Errors since last restart

Displays any errors that have occurred since the Search Service was last restarted. If there have not been any errors, you will not see this section.

The following information is displayed under Cluster Status:

Warnings

Displays any warnings about Search Service status. If there are no warnings, you will not see this section.

Cluster home

Displays the location of the cluster's configuration and log files.

Cluster search state

Indicates whether the cluster is able to process search requests.

  • COMPLETE: All nodes in the cluster are able to process requests.

  • IMPAIRED: One or more nodes is unable to process requests, but at least one node in each partition is still able to process requests (thus, the Search Service is still able to get complete search results from the cluster).

  • PARTIAL: All of the nodes in one or more partitions is unable to process requests (thus, search responses may not be complete, since they will be missing the results from one or more partitions of data).

  • UNAVAILABLE: None of the nodes are able to process requests.

Cluster index state

Indicates whether the cluster is able to process index requests. The possible states are the same as for the Cluster search state.

Number of partitions

Displays the number of partitions in the cluster.

Number of nodes

Displays the number of nodes in the cluster.

Cluster docset TID

Displays the ID for the most recent transaction in the document set.

Cluster lexicon TID

Displays the ID for the most recent transaction in the lexicon.

Last Submitted TID

Displays the ID for the most recent transaction submitted to the cluster.

MB free

Displays the amount of memory free (in MB) on the machine that hosts the cluster.

MB used

Displays the amount of memory (in MB) that has been used on the machine that hosts the cluster.

Search Nodes

Displays the nodes, including the IP address, port, partition, and search state.

To close the Search Service Status dialog box, click OK.

If this page does not display any status information, it probably means that the portal cannot connect to the Search Service. Verify that the server host name and port number in the Search Settings Manager are correct and that the BEA ALI Search service is running on the server host machine.


  1. Click Administration.
  2. In the Select Utility drop-down list, click Search Service Manager.
  3. At the bottom of the page, click Show Status.
