Prefix: Domain Map

The Global ACL Sync Map is used by content crawlers bringing security settings, in the form of Access Control Lists (ACLs), into your portal along with documents. The Prefix: Domain Map (along with the Portal: External Group Map) shows content crawlers how the users and groups found on source document ACLs correspond with portal users and groups. Using this information, a content crawler can set portal security on imported content. For an example-based explanation of this process, click here.

Every authentication source has a prefix. This prefix is used to distinguish the users and groups imported through the authentication source. If you plan to import security information with imported content, you might need to map your authentication source prefixes to the source domains or map portal groups to external groups through the Global ACL Sync Map.

Note: If your authentication source prefix matches the domain name, the mapping occurs automatically and you do not need to add the mapping to this page.

To map authentication source prefixes to source domains, you can perform the following actions:

  1. Click Administration.
  2. In the Select Utility drop-down list, click Global ACL Sync Map.
