For any given search term, a result can be specified as a best bet. The first best bet is the top best bet. Users with the Access Search Results Manager activity right can set best bets and the top best bet result for a search term.
If best bets exist for a given search term, you can choose to go directly to the top best bet result rather than seeing all search results for the term. For example, the top best bet for the term "HR" may be the Human Resources community. If you use the top best bet feature, you can go directly to the Human Resources community instead of seeing all search results for the term "HR."
Note: You can only go to the top best bet (for example, a community) if you have access privileges to it.
There are several ways to go directly to the top best bet for a term:
Type ">" as a prefix to the search term in the banner search box or search portlet, and click Search. For example: >HR department.
Insert "tbb=SearchTerm" in the portal URL (may include spaces). For example: http://portal.company.com/portal/server.pt?tbb=HR department.
If the button is visible, enter the search term and click
instead of Search.
If there is no top best bet set for the term you entered, the normal search results for the term are displayed instead.
