You might sometimes want to control the search results returned to users. For example:
If your portal users run searches that do not return results, you want to associate their commonly used search terms with the appropriate search results.
If you want specific content to display at the top of search results, you might want to change the ranking of results. You can control the search results using best bets.
You want to enable users to go directly to a specific search result (for example, a document or object) when they search on a specified term. The top best bet is used for this purpose.
Note: Best bets are only shown in search results sorted by relevance.
To manage best bets, you can perform the following actions:
To create a best bet, click New Best Bet and complete
the Best Bet Editor.
To delete a best bet, select the check box next
to the best bet and click .
To select or clear all of the Best Bet Trigger check boxes, select or clear the box next to Best Bet Trigger.
To edit a best bet, click its name.
To search the list of best bets, use the search box with wildcards if necessary. To go back to the entire list of best bets, click Show All Best Bets.
When you are done configuring best bets, click Apply. When you are done configuring all Search Results Manager settings, click Finish. Changes are applied only when you click Apply or Finish.
