The Advanced Search page lets you search for items in your portal using metadata properties and location to define your search.
To define your search:
Specify the types of objects to search for. By default, the portal searches all object types (documents, folders, communities, portlets, and users). To limit your search to specific object types, clear the check boxes next to the object types you do not want to search.
Specify the application to search. By default, the portal searches all applications (portal, Collaboration Server, and Content Server). To limit your search to a specific application, select it.
Specify your search requirements:
To search for text in an object property, type the text in the appropriate text box (Text, Name, Description, Full Text Content, Keywords, Author, or URL). Objects that contain the specified text in the specified properties (and that meet any other necessary requirements) will be returned. You can use the text search rules.
To search for objects based on their creation date or the date they were last edited, use the Object Created or Object Last Modified drop-down lists to select the date and time. Objects created or modified after that date and time (and that meet any other necessary requirements) will be returned.
Specify how you want your search requirements handled:
If you want your search results to meet all the conditions you define, select Find items meeting all requirements. This is equivalent to using AND.
If you want your search results to meet at least one of the conditions you define, select Find items meeting any requirements. This is equivalent to using OR.
To perform your search, click Search.
Objects that match your search requirements will be returned. To learn about the Search Results page, refer to Search Results.
