All users in the Administrators group have access to all areas and features of the portal. For all other users, you control (on a group basis) who can perform administrative tasks by granting rights to portal activities. Users who do not have permission to perform a particular activity do not see the corresponding user interface elements in the portal.

To assign an activity right to a group:
Click the activity right you want to assign. This launches the Portal Activity Editor.
Under Groups with
Rights, click Add
Group.
In the Select Groups dialog box, navigate to the group to whom you want to grant the activity right and click OK.
Click Finish in the Portal Activity Editor.
Click Finish in the Activity Manager.
The following table lists the available portal activities and describes what management tasks users can perform in the portal.

Many activities are available when you install the portal, but you can also create custom activities.
To create, manage, and delegate rights to portal activities:
To create a custom activity, click New Activity.
In the Portal Activity Editor,
specify the name, description, Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI), and
security for this activity right. The name and the URI must be unique.
To remove a custom activity, select the activity
you want to remove and click .
Note: You cannot remove the portal activities created upon install.
To select or clear all of the custom activity check boxes, select or clear the box to the left of Name.
To specify which users and groups can access an existing activity, or to view or edit other activity properties, click the name of the activity. In the Portal Activity Editor, you can see the name, description, URI, and migration history for this activity; you can also change the security or migration status.
You might want to consider creating groups specifically to assign activity rights associated with a particular role in the portal. For example, if you created a group called "Community Administrator," you might want to assign the following activity rights:
