Properties and Names

Note: This page is called Names and Descriptions if you are creating or editing a property.

To specify a name and description, language, localized names and descriptions, and properties of this object, do the following:

  1. In the Name box, type a name for this object. This name displays in lists of objects from which users will sometimes choose; therefore, the name should clearly convey what this object is or what it can be used for.

  2. In the Description text box, type a description for this object. This description displays in the Administrative Object Directory to help other administrators understand what this object is.

  3. Next to Primary Language, you see one of two things:

  4. If you want to add names and descriptions for languages other than the primary language, select Supports Localized Names. A new section displays, allowing you to add names and descriptions for additional languages (see step 5).

Each object can have an alternate name and description for each language that is supported in the portal. For example, if you have an object called "Engineering," then you might have the French translation, Ingénierie, as the alternate name for that object. So when users log in using the French user interface, they see the object names and descriptions associated with French.

    Note:
This option is not available in the Users Editor; skip to step 6.

  5. If you selected Supports Localized Names, you can add names and descriptions to display to users who have chosen a language for the portal display other than the primary language you selected.

  6. Under Object Properties:

Top Best Bets

This section of the page lists top best bet terms set for this object. When users do a top best bet search on these terms, they go directly to this object instead of seeing the normal search results.

  1. Click Administration.
  2. Open the object editor:
  3. On the left, under Edit Standard Settings, click Properties and Names.
